Bone Grafting

Bone grafting involves building up the jawbone to accommodate a dental implant or other restorative device. The bone used for grafting typically comes from the patient’s own mouth, harvested during drilling procedures, or from cadaver bone fragments obtained through bone banks.

Crown Lengthening

Crown lengthening is a surgical procedure that remodels the gum line by lowering it to expose more tooth structure. This procedure is necessary when cavities have decayed a tooth beyond restoration or when a tooth has broken below the gum line, allowing dentists to work with adequate tooth structure for crown placement.

Scaling & Root Planing

Scaling and root planing treats gingivitis by removing plaque and tartar from teeth surfaces and smoothing root surfaces to eliminate infected tooth structure. Scaling removes tartar from tooth surfaces, while root planing smooths the roots. This non-surgical procedure is typically performed in stages, with one mouth section treated per appointment to allow healing time.

Frenectomy

A frenectomy is a minor surgical procedure correcting a frenulum that is too short or thick, which can cause speech problems, tooth misalignment, or breastfeeding difficulties in infants. The procedure takes less than 15 minutes and can be performed with a scalpel or laser, with laser treatment resulting in minimal bleeding and shorter recovery time.

Periodontal (gum) Disease

Periodontal disease begins as plaque that hardens into tartar, harboring bacteria that attack soft tissue around the gums. Early-stage gingivitis can progress to periodontitis, which destroys tissues and bone supporting teeth. Research has linked gum disease to stroke, heart disease, and diabetes, and it weakens the immune system.

Occlusal Adjustment

Occlusal adjustment corrects bite alignment caused by loose, shifting, crowded, or missing teeth, creating an evenly distributed bite that eliminates irregular pressure. Modern technology uses computer scans to record hundreds of bite registrations per minute, allowing dentists to make only necessary adjustments for proper alignment.

Periodontal Splinting (Weak Teeth)

Periodontal splinting attaches weak teeth together using composite material, creating a stable single unit stronger than individual teeth. This common procedure, typically performed on front teeth, addresses looseness caused by lost gum tissue, injury, orthodontic treatment, or tooth misalignment.
